MILESTONE FOR GAS SAFE REGISTER AS IT HITS A MILLION

21st January 2010

The Gas Safe Register website www.GasSafeRegister.co.uk has now received its 1,000,000th visitor, confirming the site as a key source of information for the general public considering gas work in their home.

The most popular areas of the website continue to be the ‘Find an engineer’’ and ‘Check a business’ functions suggesting the public have firmly recognised the importance of only using a Gas Safe registered engineer to carry out work.

“There have been more than 1.35 million searches for businesses, meaning that visitors are not only using the site to check the identity and qualifications of an engineer they have already found but that they are using the site to find an engineer in the first place.”
explained Simon Ayers, customer services director for Gas Safe Register.

Visitors to the consumer website are also checking the other areas offering detailed information about gas safety. The ‘Free gas safety inspection’ online nomination form and information about carbon monoxide poisoning are extremely popular.

Simon added:

“It is also very encouraging to see the public are looking for more information about the risks surrounding the use of illegal gas workers. It means they are taking the issue seriously and looking at how they can protect themselves – it also means registered businesses should benefit.”

The visit figures only refer to the consumer website but Gas Safe Register is also seeing an increase in the use of the engineer’s website with registered businesses managing their registration online..

“Our recent enhancements to the engineer’s website allow individual engineers, not just the business, to access technical information online and we will continue to listen to businesses and make further developments in 2010.
